Dr. Anson received her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University, with honors in psychology and theatre. She subsequently attended Northwestern University receiving her Masters degree (1989) and Doctorate (1994) degrees in Counseling Psychology. She completed her internship in child/adolescent and family therapy at the Institute of Juvenile Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her post-doctoral training at Michael Reese Hospital, specializing in work with young children and their families.
Prior to private practice, Dr. Anson worked in a number of settings, including extensive psychological assessment work and as a supervisor in a pilot program at the Cook County Juvenile Court. She also served as project manager on federally funded clinical research project with substance-exposed children. At Evanston Hospital she was responsible for a program with pregnant and parenting teens targeting early attachment development. She was an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University and the Family Institute, where she has taught in the Counseling Psychology program from 1994-2010.
